Sensitization Program
Sirri Care Foundation recently hosted a sensitization program at Government Girls College, Maiduguri, focused on the impact of drug abuse and gender-based violence (GBV) in schools. The event brought together 70 participants—including students, school staff, and stakeholders—and featured expert-led presentations and interactive sessions that sparked important discussions.
The program emphasized prevention, collaboration, and community involvement in tackling these critical issues. Participants and stakeholders commended the event for its relevance and impact, with pledges to continue supporting advocacy efforts.
We are grateful to our donor, Partners West Africa Nigeria (PWAN), for their institutional support through a seed grant, which helped empower 10 women-led organizations, including Sirri Care Foundation, to carry out activities addressing key community challenges.
GBV and drug abuse are significant challenges, especially in areas like Maiduguri, where instability and societal pressures leave adolescents vulnerable. This initiative served as a vital platform for raising awareness, empowering students, and strengthening community partnerships to create safer environments for young people.
